Originally converted from the Driving Motor Seconds of 2-HAP stock (class 414) to work with class 488 units on the Victoria to Gatwick services. They now (2003) work the few Gatwick Express services not worked by class 460 Juniper units with a class 73 electro-diesel locomotive on the other end of the train
